Right, there are loads of different types of induction kits. They can be split into 3 main groups.

  • Open filter kits
  • Enclosed filter kits
  • Replacement filter elements (using the orginal airbox)
Firstly in an idea world you want cold/dense air to be drawn into the engine. I wont bore you with the science behind it but you do because dense air has more molecules per volume unit thus allowing for more combustion to take place. Which in laymans terms means more power Induction kits Smile

However, you will not see a 25 bhp difference between an open and an enclosed filter. It is much smaller than that, but there is still a difference.

Another aspect to consider is how you want the induction roar to sound. As a general rule of thumb open kits are alot louder than enclosed.

Right so there are various kits avaliable, lets start with the open filters.

Open Filters:

K&N 57i

Induction kits 57-0241

This is probably the most popular open filter kit avaliable in the world. Prices range form £60-£80 depending on your model of car. These are avaliable through halfords special order, ebay and various other online shops such as demon tweeks.

There is a 51i Gen 2 kit which includes a bit of pipe work to move the filter closer to the front of the engine bay.

However this kit it £190!!!

This is another open filter, avaliable from Halfords again and loads of other online websites. This is almost as popular as the K&N. This kit retails at around £50 and can be bought here: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/produc...pcode=P/CPK018

Green Filter

Induction kits GREPBC

£80

This is a very similar kit to the 57i, but the filter is a slightly different shape. This kit is very throaty when you accelerate. Once again demon tweeks come up drumps http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/produc...pcode=GREP56BC

Powertec

Induction kits Powertec%20SL1

This is a very similar kit to the 57i again. I have not had any experience fitting or using a car with one of these. But they are around £100 from various websites including this one: http://www.directcarparts.co.uk/buy-...9.html?ref=137

Simota

Induction kits Simotast502

£75

Another fairly popular open kit which has a good engine tone. Avaliable from http://www.simota.co.uk/products/peugeot/

Ripseed

Induction kits 400-293423?$prod$

£30

Universal filter, I'd steer clear and get on designed to fit a 106. But if you wish to purchase this kit its avaliable from Halfords.
