This guide is for 106's with an airbag, but is the same for the non airbag model after removing the airbag.
Tools
T27 Torx Bit
T50 Torx Bit
Torque wrench
Alen key (useually supplied with boss kit)
Time
5mins + 30mins For battery dis-connect
1. Buy a steering wheel and boss kit
2. Most important part, Dis-connect the battery and leave for 30mins, Do not attempt to try taking the airbag with out dis-connecting the battery as it wont be a fun experience!
3. Then use a T27 Torx bit to remove the 2 screws on the rear, Note the screws DO NOT come fully out. Then pull the airbag out dis-connecting the orange connection. I reccomend that you undo and remove the Airbag with your body/hands etc behind the wheel so that if the Airbag does go off, it wont make contact with your body.
*For non airbag models remove the centre cover*
Store the Airbag in a safe place with the bag facing up. They are still VERY dangerous so should be out of harms way.
Then get a T50 Torx bit and undo the bolt in the middle of the wheel
Then Remove the wheel, you may need to bang and pull the wheel towards you a fair bit to remove.
Then take the Boss kit and line the arrow up with the blue dot on the spindle
(Arrow)
(Blue dot)
Then refit or use a new bolt for the centre of the wheel and tighten to 35Nm with a torque wrench (if you don't have one, buy, borrow or steal one as you don't want the wheel coming off while your driving)
Then place the rubber surround around the Boss and place the metal washer on.
Then place the wheel on the boss, with the supplied screws, fit 2 opposites first to line up the wheel, then screw the rest in.
Reconnect your battery.
You dont have to wire the horn as its on your stalk, i fitted the horn button as it looked better with it fitted instead of a hole.
Then sit back and enjoy your new wheel!
*I take no responsabilty for your fitting, and should be done under your own risk*
